Cardiovascular safety of xanthine oxidase inhibitors: an optimistic and unfinished story
نویسندگان
چکیده
Gout is associated with a high risk of cardiovascular diseases and mortality. Possible causes the disease include persistent uncontrolled hyperuricemia, chronic microcrystalline inflammation that develops in vascular wall even atherosclerotic plaques. These processes, which contribute to oxidative stress formation peroxidation products, may be target for xanthine oxidase inhibitors — allopurinol febuxostat. Their rational use, aimed at complete dissolution urate crystal deposits gout patients, results improvement endothelial function, lowering blood pressure, possibly reduction all-cause The effects on safety these drugs are believed comparable, greatly expanding options therapy.

"'I am 39 years old, married, with two children aged 18 years and 14 years. The younger was a very active baby, and when he was 18 months old I mentioned to the doctor that he was sleeping very little and though he did not seem tired in any way, I certainly was! After a course of vitamins I still felt worn out and this was when I was first prescribed Valium. "This was 1971; I was then 27 years ...
متن کاملXanthine oxidase inhibitors in ischaemic heart disease
Increased uric acid levels are correlated with cardiovascular disease, particularly with ischaemic heart disease. Xanthine oxidase inhibitors, especially allopurinol, lower the risk of ischaemic heart disease due to their effects on reactive oxygen species and endothelial function. In chronic stable angina pectoris, allopurinol increases the median time to ST depression, time to chest pain, and...
متن کاملFurther studies with xanthine oxidase inhibitors.
The osidase and dehydrogenase activities in the enzymes oxidizing xanthine can be differentiated by the use of certain inhibitors (1). The present study was designed to see if such inhibitors are specific for the reaction with oxygen, or whether these agents also block the transfer of electrons to cytochrome c and nitrate. Both reduced diphosphopyridine nucleotide and hypoxanthine were studied ...
متن کاملAnalysis of Xanthine Oxidase Inhibitors from Clerodendranthus spicatus with Xanthine Oxidase Immobilized Silica Coated Fe3O4 Nanoparticles
In this study, xanthine oxidase immobilized silica coated Fe3O4 nanoparticles (Fe3O4@SiO2-XO) were successfully prepared and characterized by transmission electron microscope, X-ray powder diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and vibrating sample magnetometer. The average diameter of the Fe3O4 nanoparticles was about 300 nm to 350 nm with a shell thickness of 60 nm. The maximum ...
متن کاملThe Human Transcriptome: An Unfinished Story
Despite recent technological advances, the study of the human transcriptome is still in its early stages. Here we provide an overview of the complex human transcriptomic landscape, present the bioinformatics challenges posed by the vast quantities of transcriptomic data, and discuss some of the studies that have tried to determine how much of the human genome is transcribed. Recent evidence has...
